School Finance Director/Accountant

One of our clients, a nonprofit school, located in Charleston, SC, is seeking an experienced nonprofit Finance Director/Accountant who will be responsible for the organization's general accounting and financial reporting

Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
Manage the general ledgers, payables, investments and property accounting
Complete monthly close, including preparing and processing journal entries, reconciling accounts and reviewing cash transactions, expenditure charges and transfers
Prepare monthly financial statements and report on budget variances
Assist in the preparation of annual school budgets and monitor adherence to those budgets
Prepare annual consolidated financial statements
Manage annual IRS Form 990 filing and related supporting documentation
Assist with annual financial audits including schedule preparation and interaction with auditors
Monitor cash balances
Ensure compliance with internal controls and policies and procedures
Monitor and assist with grant compliance and reporting
Develop, implement and maintain strong accounting process and control systems ensuring compliance with GAAP for educational institutions, the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations and other applicable state and federal laws
Prepare financial analysis as directed by CFO and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting. Masters and/or CPA a plus
At least 2
years of nonprofit accounting experience in the education industry
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint; Blackbaud Financial Edge and Powerschool systems experience a plus
Knowledge of current accounting best practices, including fund accounting and consolidations, as well as experience with accounting process improvement
Excellent problem solving, organizational and communication skills (written and oral)
Strong analytical skills with ability to assess details as well as the big picture
Very detail oriented and able to function in fast paced, dynamic environment with the ability to take initiative

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
