3 Full-time 10 hours ago Full Job Description We are looking for a Special Assistant to the Mayor for Special Projects to join the City of Charleston's Executive Department! This role provides management and support for special projects undertaken by the Mayor's Office by performing the following duties.
Examples of Duties Plans and organizes comparative studies relating to the activities and operations of the City.
Identifies opportunities for improving services to residents, determining methods and procedures to provide the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness.
Assists Mayor's Senior Policy Advisors, providing research and project management support.
Develops project plans specifying goals, strategies, scheduling, staffing, budget, and allocation of resources.
Interacts with planning consultants working on special projects and makes project recommendations as necessary.
Coordinates and arranges meetings, prepares agendas, and reserves and prepares facilities.
Prepares a wide variety of written materials, including correspondence, reports, draft legislation, and public information materials for media.
Represents the Mayor in meetings and maintains liaison with elected officials and representatives of local, regional, state and federal governments, other public agencies, business, professional and community groups, the media, and the public.
Serves as the Mayor's representative on the City's Special Events Committee, the History and Tourism Commissions and on other city committees as appointed by the Mayor, such as Sister Cities International.
Coordinates logistics for local events requiring the Mayor's appearance and travels with the Mayor to local events when appropriate.
Arranges programs, events, or conferences by arranging for facilities and caterer, issuing information or invitations, coordinating speakers, and controlling event budget.
Identify potential funding sources and financial incentives for implementing projects, assist in preparing grant applications and partnership proposals, seek sponsorships and assists in managing grant compliance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent; and six years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word or similar software.
Valid state-issued driver's license.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
