Non-ExemptSummary We are looking for a Development Manager to join the City of Charleston's Executive Department! In this role, you will identify and coordinate funding opportunities for the Office of Cultural Affairs.
Examples of Duties Manages, monitors, and evaluates fundraising efforts/plans.
Develops multi-year strategies for major gifts fundraising.
Consults with and/or provides leadership to accomplish fundraising goals and objectives.
Establishes short- and long-range goals for funding sources and enlists support from members of institution staff and volunteer organizations.
Researches public and private grant agencies and foundations to identify potential sources of funding for research, community service, or other projects.
Works with program staff to develop projects.
Directs grant programs for government funding.
Directs major gifts program for funding from individuals.
Writes, edits, and proofreads proposals and reports to funding sources.
Informs potential contributors of special need and encourages individuals, corporations, and foundations to establish or contribute to special funds through endowments, trusts, donations of gifts-in-kind, or bequests.
Confers with attorneys to establish methods of transferring funds to benefit both donors and institution.
Negotiates agreements with representatives of other organizations for exchange of mailing lists, information, and cooperative programs.
Oversees the collection, compilation, and input of data into the donor database.
Ensures the accuracy of data, analyzes conflicting data and verifies/collects missing information.
Analyzes and summarizes data.
Prepares reports.
Provides documents/reports as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 1 year of donor relations/development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Thorough working knowledge and understanding of fundraising and donor relations concepts, principles, procedures and techniques.
Valid driver's license Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software.
Other RequirementsRequire evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needs.
Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with CRM software and Adobe Creative Suite Pay listed reflects a pay plan adjustment of 4.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
