Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Charleston Dorchester Department of Mental Health, 2100 Charlie Hall Blvd, Charleston, SC 29414
This position is for a Clinical Counselor to serve adults patients receiving services at the Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center (CDMHC). This position provides clinical support services to the patients and therapists of Region 2 with an emphasis on engagement, resource information and education thereby enhancing patient success and wellbeing.
We seek compassionate individuals who are driven to provide outstanding care to those we serve.
Our organization also provides outpatient psychiatric and nursing services, so clinicians will act as part of a multidisciplinary team. Work could take place in the clinic and community settings as well as via telehealth when appropriate.
Clinical counselors are responsible for documenting services in a timely manner using an Electronic Medical Record system. All necessary technology will be provided.
CDMHC and the South Carolina Department of Mental Health have an unsurpassed commitment to ongoing learning and professional development. Clinical staff receive thorough training at orientation as well as opportunities for ongoing training and support. Regular individual and team supervision is also provided.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State:
A bachelor's degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences and professional experience in human services or social services programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Mental Health legal principles and practices of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and education services.

  • Considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in psychiatric setting.

  • Working knowledge of basic health welfare services provided by other agencies.

  • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment and the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions and recommend required actions.

Position will provide services in the clinical and community as needed.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
