Supervisory Probation Administrator

The Firearms and Safety Branch is in the Training and Safety Division of the Probation and Pretrial Services Office (PPSO) in the Department of Program Services. The Firearms and Safety Branch is responsible for designing and providing firearms and safety-related training for newly hired and experienced federal probation and pretrial services officers. The incumbent will provide oversight and support in the areas of safety, policy development, and program management of all safety-related issues for officers, and for program areas related to any or all of the services of the probation and pretrial services systems including the Federal Probation and Pretrial Academy. PPSO seeks a highly organized, self-motivated professional to manage and lead the Firearms and Safety Branch staff. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the Division Chief in the following areas:
Performing all facets of staff supervision, including assigning and reviewing the work of staff and completing a full range of personnel actions including tracking time and attendance, training and professional development, conducting performance appraisals and fostering teamwork. Overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of firearms, safety and search and seizure-related curricula. Serving as a subject matter expert and provide oversight on all firearms and safety-related policy and procedures. This includes analyzing Safety and Information Reporting System (SIRS) data, overseeing firearms and safety office reviews, and providing policy guidance to AO and district court staff. Conducting research, analyzing data, monitoring trends, and making recommendations for improvement of national programs such as adult education and strategic curriculum design. Establishing and managing both short- and long-term goals for the branch and integrating the work of the branch with broader PPSO objectives. Providing oversight of Firearms and Safety expenditures, including support for budget development, justification, and execution. Serving as an AO liaison for probation and pretrial services staff to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Representing the interests of the AO and federal probation and pretrial services system in interactions with senior executives from other federal law enforcement agencies. Assisting in establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with U.S. probation and pretrial services offices to assure all requests for assistance from other districts are met properly and effectively. Performing related duties as assigned by the Division Chief and the AO. Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. Experience:
Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience developing policy guidance and trainings regarding firearms and safety programs; and supervising staff including professional and administrative personnel.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
