The Secretary works for Nursing and Patient Care Services (N&PCS) and provides support to the Chief Nurses. He/She serves as a public relations representative for the service line, in addition to added complexity of overall administrative functions, including fund control point management and budgetary control responsibilities and reporting requirements. Duties include but are not limited to:
Responsible for reading and interpreting all incoming correspondence and determining proper action. Maintains control records on incoming correspondence, action documents and recurring reports and follows up on work to ensure timely reply. Composes and types correspondence that requires an extensive medical terminology background. Schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and/or schedules conferences. Services as a Primary Timekeeper and back-up Timekeeper. Understands the importance of data tracking and establishes, maintains pertinent information into automated tracking systems. Attends meetings, prepares minutes, post to SharePoint, and follows up on action items with appropriate staff members independently. Independently completes technical aspects of office administration, to include budgeting functions, purchasing, supply management, personnel administration, data processing, file management, and performs staff support work in each of these areas. Responsible for reviewing obligation and expenditure of funds for clinical care and administrative purposes, adhering to financial recording requirements, and timely funds management to promote efficiency of spending and record-keeping. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Receiving telephone calls, receiving and controlling mail routing items, reviewing outgoing correspondence, arranging, meetings, including making reservations for meeting rooms and notifying all participants, and making travel arrangements; Ability to enter, transfer, delete funds between several unrelated appropriated fund accounts and several revolving fund accounts; Serving as primary timekeeper and back-up timekeeper for personnel; Organizing and maintaining files and records, and other related materials. Proficiency Requirements. In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management or a self-certification. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
